Liquid Sunshine
I had a great time last night. Went out with my sweet in search of food. Unfortunately it turned out that we were going to be late to meet with friends, which we felt bad about. We had a particular restaurant in mind to visit, had good memories and was kind of a mini tradition of ours. On the way, we saw many suitable eateries, but held out for our candle lit charm. When we finally reached there and glanced at the window, huddled outside looking at the menu, we turned to each other and decided that we didn't want to eat there after all. It was the strangest thing, we were both hungry but there wasn't anything that appealed to us. As we were dithering our friends pulled up in their jeep, Busted! it was good see them. We explained that we hadn't eaten and trotted off in search of our romantic meal while they settled in the pub. After checking out all the places on one side of the street and not really knowing just what kind of food we wanted to eat, we settled on a little French restaurant and I'm so glad that we did. We couldn't really see much as we peered through the window, but it looked kinda romantic. It was, there was red voil hanging from the ceiling providing a curtained area for us to eat in, separating us from the tables around (not that there was many others in there). It created a warm effect and I enjoyed the privacy. They also had hypnotic projections on the ceilings, funky lights and candles hanging down. Very atmospheric! The waitress wore a chinesey dress which was oddly fitting and particularly enjoyed by Axel (grr ;). The food was amazing, gourmet, presented beautifully (big plate, small food). I've never really dined like this before and have to admit that I usually mock it a little but now I have had the experience, I am changed. The flavours were incredible and you can really tell the difference, I enjoyed the meal so much. Typically the chef came out to see how it was as I was mopping up the sauce on my plate with pastry off of Axel's but we paid him complements and he smiled ;)After our delicious experience we went to the pub and reunited with friends, chatted, caught up and all was good, it's great to catch up with people and meet new ones. After a few beers (I'm a lightweight) we strolled back home via the beach, so pretty at night (though also a little eerie) to our luxurious, borrowed apartment. I'm going to miss this.
